What is the Pool House? The Pool House is a pristine outdoor retreat located on the rooftop of the Pendry San Diego, a pioneering hotel which specializes in offering a luxury lifestyle to its guests and visitors.
Boasting some of the best views in the Gaslamp Quarter, The Pool House at Pendry San Diego is a premier rooftop lounge, embodying the quintessential and inimitable Southern California lifestyle. Light, contemporary, and open-air, the indoor/outdoor space is located centrally, just above the Gaslamp’s famed 5th Avenue, and and plays host to relaxed daytime and evening events. The Pool House also features a signature bar which offers unique cocktail experiences for guests. Available to both hotel guests and non-guests, The Pool House is the place to meet in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The concept. The Pool House is part of the Pendry San Diego’s luxury package. Overall, the hotel was designed to capture a specific audience. As Michael Fuerstman, one of the overseers of the hotel’s rollout, said in an interview, “It’s a customer who’s matured in a way to appreciate art, architecture, design, bold experiences. The customer is well traveled, has stayed in luxury hotels and boutique lifestyle hotels and wants a little bit of both.”
The setting. San Diego’s Gaslamp District is one of San Diego’s most exciting neighborhoods. This always-bustling downtown area is known for its amazing nightlife, with plenty of clubs, bars, restaurants, cultural landmarks, and cocktail lounges which draw a lively, diverse, and worldly crowd.
The design. Luxury meets the beauty and sophistication yet breezy vibe of San Diego in the beautifully designed space that is The Pool House. One of the first things you’ll notice about the space is actually the views. The gorgeous views of downtown San Diego are truly unparalleled and stunning both day and night.
The decor provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy the scenery, with private cabanas, premium lounge chairs, and luxurious day beds. It’s the perfect place to soak in some sun and stunning views. As day turns to night, The Pool House transforms into a lively spot for nightlife.

The food and drinks. In true Southern California style, the food is fresh, healthy, and perfectly pool-friendly. By day, the menu features a mix of lighter fare such as avocado toast, vegan coconut ceviche, and sashimi, but also offers impeccably prepared heartier fare such as our turkey burger (with broccoli sprouts, smashed avocado, butter lettuce, tomato, and red onion) and our Maine lobster roll (with crispy shallots, tarragon chervil aïoli, served on a griddled roll). No matter what you order, you can rest assured that it will be prepared by our talented chefs, using the finest ingredients available. By night, the menu features a number of incredible options for sharing, as well as some favorites from Lionfish, The Pendry’s coastal cuisine restaurant.
The Pool House also has an extensive bar menu, featuring every sort of tipsy potable you can imagine, from wine and beer to pool-party worthy margaritas and a creative cocktail menu.
The culture: At night, The Pool House transforms into a high-energy and open-air environment. We regularly feature local DJs and entertainment, and are able to offer spaces for private celebrations. It’s the perfect place to see, be seen, and make new connections.

Ready to visit? The Pool House is available to hotel guests daily at 9am. Every Monday through Saturday from 5pm til late, we open up The Pool House for what we call our “Rooftop Social”, which is open to the public and available for hotel guests and non-guests alike. From 5-7pm each of these evenings, we offer happy hour specials from 5-7 pm. On Sundays, The Pool House is open to the public from 1pm-8pm.
